list of traditional Thanksgiving pies

I could have listed my favorite main courses, delicious side dishes, elegant centerpieces. But no. If I had to choose my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal, it would absolutely have to be the pies! Not just one. There should be a selection. Now in our home, the Thanksgiving meal is just set for our immediate family of 5 and yet I will still have 2 pies there – beckoning to me throughout the meal. And for special occasions and holidays, it cannot just be any whipped topping. The real thing for me! Here are some traditional favorites for your pie-baking (and eating) pleasure.

The photo shows my oldest daughter at 3-years-old, just after she had taken a mini-scoop of pumpkin pie – hence the paw print in the pumpkin pie pictured.

My father always wants mince meat pie…from what I understand it takes several days to make it correctly. Does anyone have a good recipe?

My wife makes a great peach pie with bottled peaches and spice…with real cream.

Going to be in Vegas for Thanksgiving this year though…maybe gonna catch Thanksgiving at a $9.99 buffet someplace – wish me luck!

One that we have with my Mom’s side of the family is mincemeat pie. Although when it was first made it did contain meat in it, my grandmother’s doesn’t! It is mostly raisins and spices and some type of filling. It’s really good. And it is special to only have it during the holidays.

Yum! I love Pumpkin Pie and apple pie but sometimes we have cherry pies. There is also either a black raspberry pie or a raspberry pie made from frozen berries saved from the summer. I love that. Our recipes are simple and they’re made from family recipes. :)
