list of reasons to be thankful this holiday season

Thanksgiving may be a uniquely North American holiday, but it is a reminder to us all that we should take some time to count our many blessings in life.  It is easy to continually note the things that we would like to change:  job, apartment/house, whiny children, people in charge, etc.  However, Thanksgiving is a day that we can conscientiously choose to see the things we have, instead of the things we have not.

Here is a list of things for which you should thank your lucky stars, if you have them in your life.

  • Family – For those who love you unconditionally, be thankful.
  • Friends – For those who have patted you on the back when you’ve won and have given you hand when you’ve fallen flat on your back, be thankful.
  • Shelter – For a roof over your head and protection from the elements, be thankful.
  • Consistent nourishment – For food and drink to maintain and build your body and strength, be thankful.
  • Health – For all of the ways that your mind and body work and do what is necessary, be thankful.
  • Employment – For an opportunity to provide for the basic needs of yourself and your family, be thankful.
  • Inspiration – For the things that inspire you to be your best (love, a higher power, beauty), be thankful.

For what are you truly thankful?
