list of useful products for organizing in the kitchen and pantry

I am continuing the series on products for your home that might help to organize, conserve, or just make life easier.

The kitchen is often the hub of the house.  We gather, partake, prepare, laugh, and sometimes cry in the glow of a warm oven (or maybe the microwave).  Maybe it’s the spill-resistant countertops or flooring, but the kitchen is often the most casual yet comforting room in a family home.  Here are a few things that help to keep the kitchen and pantry running smoothly.

  • Baker’s Mate Organizing Rack – Cookie sheets always take up so much room in the kitchen.  This kitchen organizer would be a great space saver, especially at Christmas.
  • Jessie Steele Carmen Bib Apron – You may be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen, but this black little number will help you feel feminine while fixing fettucini. You’ll appear pretty when preparing pastries.
  • 1-Gallon Ceramic Compost Pail – This pail would make an attractive addition to any kitchen. It is a convenient (and odor-free) place to put eggshells, coffee grounds, fruit and vegetable scraps, and other compost items.
  • Zyliss Interlocking Corn Holders – My family loves corn on the cob, but I hate storing cob holders in my drawer. These are fuss-free!
  • Progressive International Magnetic Measuring Spoons – These spoons take up less room in a drawer and stick together by magnets rather than rings. Easy to pull apart, easy to put back together. Love these!
  • Rubbermaid Professional 9-1/2 Inch Heat Resistant Spoonula – I love products that multi-task (have I ever said that before?) and this Spoonula is just such a tool. Great for anything you would use a rubber spatula for – mixing, spreading, etc – but also is great for sauteing, stirring, and scooping.
  • Rubbermaid Unbreakable Three-Pocket Wall File Set – Okay, so this is not a new product, but these work great for organizing the myriad of paper that comes home from school and/or work requiring immediate attention. Hang them right near the spot where the normal collection of paper usually piles up.

What are your favorite organizers and tools in the kitchen?

  • I love my Pampered Chef utensil caddy, my IKEA plastic bag holder/dispenser and since I don't have a lot of drawer space I use a lot of small baskets from Wal-Mart to organize little utensils, towels, lids etc. Even the dog has baskets and Rubbermaid containers!

  • I have had my Spoonulas for years. I brought them home from a gourmet shop and I love them. They resist heat and are great for scrapping the corners of a pot.
