list of reasons why mamas LOVE edward cullen

I finally took the plunge into Twilight mania. Everywhere I turned, there was the book or a poster of the movie that was to come. Last weekend, I took a bit of my birthday money and splurged on the paperback version of Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1). I read the book in just 4 days, which in my current state, is very fast. I was nearly done with book 2 when I used a bit more of my birthday money to go to the 10 p.m. (yawn) showing of the movie Twillight this past Saturday night. Thought there were some changes from the book, I did not feel disappointed when I left the movie. In fact, I found myself even more obsessed with the character Edward Cullen. I spent a LOT of time thinking about this phenomenon yesterday, trying to understand what makes a vampire (this vampire) so appealing. Here is a a list of my conclusions.

*Warning: if you have not read the book or are waiting to see the movie, this is your spoiler alert! And may I ask – What is wrong with you?! Get the book!!! See the movie!!!! If you are scared of vampires, know this – it is a beautiful love story that just happens to have vampires in it.

  1. Edward is so masculine, and yet so sensitive.
  2. Even in his revulsion, you could feel his intense passion.
  3. He is invincible.
  4. He is intelligent , cultured and talented.
  5. He is her hero and saves her numerous times.
  6. He is gorgeous and NEVER has morning breath!
  7. An unlimited supply of cash never hurt anything. I wouldn’t mind trading in my ’55 Chevy pickup for his shiny, silver Volvo.
  8. His family is unique and exotic.
  9. He knows what everyone (almost) is thinking before they say it, so he is always one step ahead.
  10. He isn’t pulled away by those pesky human needs to eat and sleep (although he does get eerily “thirsty” quite often).

Of course, lucky me, my hubby just happens to have all of the best of these traits. I have my own Edward Cullen living right under my roof!

  • Don't forget to read Midnight Sun at stepheniemeyer.com. It's Twilight rewritten from Edward's perspective. If you think you love him now, just wait.

  • One of the actresses in this movie is from Portland, ME. Anna Kendrick, we did community theater together as kids. So proud of her now!

  • I went to the MIDNIGHT MOVIE on Friday (or I guess it was Saturday morning, technically) with my friend Kelly. There we sat, two 41 year old married Moms, squealing and clutching each other every time Edward came on screen :) I never would have thought that a movie with nothing but two fairly chaste kisses would be so STEAMY!

  • Cute post about Edward, Lady! He is a bit too cold for me, though. I think if I had a choice, I would have to opt for the werewolf!

  • I love the fact that whenever he kisses Bella she is weak. I feel lightheaded everytime he says anything in the books. The movie was great, I can't wait until the next movie.

  • I'm reading it too!!! Not done yet... anyhow I was talking to my friend about it this morning and she told me that the author is a mormon and the underlying theme is abstinence (due to her religion)... is it apparent when you read it? I mean, with teens being so sexually advanced these days, do they realize that this is all about abstinence?

  • I'm living in a house with "I Love Edward Cullen" all over the place. My daughter has changed her last name to Cullen. She's reading each book for the gadzillionith time and has seen the movie twice already.

She wants me to read the book, but I'm resisting. :)
