list of things to do post-christmas 2009

This is a post I wrote last year on this very day.  The message is the same:  it is time to prepare for the New Year!

My husband likes to keep the Christmas decorations up through New Year’s and every year, I think I will try to make it until then. However, the decorations that looked so pretty just a few days ago look terribly cluttered the day after Christmas. None of it means the same to me the day after Christmas. And so, once again, I will not be able to hold myself back this year from taking it down and clearing it away. I took a nap on Christmas day, and when I woke up, it was as if some sort of organizing switch was turned on inside. I began to scurry around, picking up things, sorting through things, and writing a few immediate tasks down on my To Do List. Here are a few of those tasks.

  • Put away Christmas decorations.
  • Organize gift wrap station.
  • Remove all items from kitchen counters and really clean (both counters and appliances).
  • Sort through desk/table upstairs in my room (you know, the one where are all stray papers migrate to when you don’t know where else to put them).
  • Go through children’s toys and books (again) and get rid of broken and unloved toys. Arrange new toys in an organized manner.
  • Empty out my “junk” drawer and replace necessary items neatly.
  • Organize storage room in the basement. Separate items for a yard sale in the spring. Make a run to Goodwill.
  • File all important documents that have been laying on the filing cabinet awaiting filing.
  • Begin to prepare documents for business and personal taxes.
  • Create a list of Resolutions for 2010 and a plan to accomplish them.

What things are on your list of Things To Do post-Christmas?  What are your resolutions for 2010?

  • I really like your list now I just need to get it going.....

I do have a few things on your list done!
.-= Tricia´s last blog ..Grocery shopping for the week =-.

  • It's always so sad to me to pack up Christmas! I will be glad to have my house back in order, but I will wait until the first weekend in Jan. Since we don't start decorating for Christmas until the first Sat in Dec, I only get to see the special stuff for a month each year.
Thanks for such a great list to get me started (when I'm ready). :)
